The ALOHA program brings library services to patrons who can't come to the library because of age, health or physical limitations.
Browsing Bookmobile: The librarian brings a selection of materials (can include: large print books, regular print books, audiobooks on CD, DVDs) and sets them up in the facility for residents to browse and then check out.
Room-to-Room Visits: At these facilities, a facility staff member will accompany the librarian directly to residents' rooms. Residents may make specific requests, which are then dropped off/picked up at each visit, or residents may prefer browsing material. In these cases, items are checked out to residents and the patron is directly responsible for the materials (NOT the facility).
Check-out to Facility: A selection of materials is checked out directly to the facility and dropped off with a staff member (usually the Activities Director or equivalent) along with a check-out list. The facility is responsible for keeping up with and loaning material to the residents, and seeing that it's returned or renewed at the next visit.
