Calling all quilters, knitters, crocheters, or fleece-crafters!
Join together with other local "blanketeers" to make hand-made blankets for local children in need. You can bring your sewing machine, an afghan in progress, or whatever you need to work on a blanket or two. Can't sew or knit? You can still help with no-sew fleece blankets or by tying & labeling finished blankets. Drop in for an hour or the whole day. All blankets and donated materials will go to the New Hanover/Brunswick/Pender chapter of Project Linus.
If you would like to donate fabric or other materials to Make A Blanket Day, please remember that Project Linus needs kid- and teen-friendly woven fabrics in cotton/cotton blend or flannel (to be used for quilts).
Fleece is also needed to make no-sew blankets.
Knitters and crocheters can use non-woolen yarn.
Quilt batting, spare sewing thread, quilting pins, sewing machine needles, and scissors can all be used to help our "blanketeers".
Materials must be new, unused, washable, and free of contaminants such as mold, mildew, and smoke.
Items Project Linus cannot use: upholstery fabric, synthetic or knit fabrics, wool or novelty yarns.
