New Hanover County Public Library is in the midst of creating the new Pine Valley Branch Library for the residents of southern New Hanover County.
- Pine Valley Branch Library, to be located at 3802 South College Road, will replace the existing Myrtle Grove Branch and allow for the expansion of both the physical collection and the programs and services offered to the surrounding communities.
- "New Hanover County Public Library’s goal is to be at the forefront of library services, and this new facility is a big step in that direction," said Library Director Harry Tuchmayer.
- In late 2016, Vines Architecture collected hundreds of comments and suggestions from the community through forums and an online survey.
- Groundbreaking was held on November 29, 2017.
- The Grand Opening will be May 6, 2019.
- Myrtle Grove Library will be closed starting Saturday, April 27, 2019, for moving.

- Online donations are currently being accepted.
Funding
- Pine Valley will cost an estimated $6.2 million to build.
- The Library Foundation will raise funds for furnishings and equipment in 2017-18.
