Wake Forest University Law School Pro Bono Program for Unemployment Insurance Issues

The Wake Forest University Law School Pro Bono Program is allowing WFU Law students, under the supervision of a licensed attorney, to answer questions about unemployment insurance issues. The service is free, applicants fill out a short online questionnaire and get their answers via email. For more information and to apply, visit:

Westlaw Patron Access

We are pleased to report that Thomson Reuters has made Westlaw temporary access available for patron researchers during our library building closures associated with COVID-19.

Patron Self-Registered Complimentary Remote Access:  20 hour / 45 day expiry (for library patrons in need of legal research access).  

  1. Access the Westlaw Edge trial page and enter your email address.

  2. Enter your contact information. In the Organization Type field, please select Government – State or Local.

  3. Skip the “Add Colleagues” page

  4. Click “I agree to Terms & Conditions and click Create Profile

  5. Create OnePass Profile and Security fields

  6. Confirm your OnePass profile and click Get Started to begin searching on Westlaw Edge!

IDs created using this link will have access to Westlaw Edge for a total of 20 hours over 45 days.  Complimentary Remote Access for library patrons can be registered through June 30, 2020.


In addition to the weekly clinics, Legal Aid of NC has created other live and recorded videos that have information about current topics that are affecting our clients during the pandemic. They have animated videos that answer specific questions in about 3 minutes or less, recorded videos that provide more depth on a topic, and live videos during which we present on a topic and answer general questions on Facebook.

Legal Aid on Facebook Live

Legal Aid of NC is now doing live videos most days of the week on our Facebook page ( General questions are answered at this time. These are on the Facebook page after we record, and they are also uploaded to YouTube and the website. All live events (and ways to register, if needed) are listed here:

  • The traditional self-help clinics are on Zoom and Facebook most Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:30 
  • Housing on Monday Evening (HOME) is at 4pm on Mondays and discusses current housing topics
  • The Disaster Relief Project presents live on a range of topics and answers questions on Wednesdays at 4pm
  • Free Forum Friday is at 11am and features attorneys, staff, and other guests discussing legal news or providing information on a broad range of current topics
